Waitangi Day 2018
Yes, It's been and gone but ae marika did we have a great day. E mihi ana ki te tini tangata i tae atu ki te hāpai i te kaupapa o te rā. Here's a little look back to what we got up to at this years Waitangi Day event at Okahu Bay.
Para Kore - Zero Waste
Our Para kore audit results from Waitangi Day 2018 are in and they're pretty spectacular. Check it out:
Total waste produced by the festival, over 5-hours, was 4130-litres, this was a mixture of waste like; recycling, organic, landfill and soft plastic etc.
Total waste going to landfill is 60-litres, that weighed in at 7kg and equalled 1.45% of all waste.
We successfully diverted 98.55% of the waste received from going to landfill.
Of the 1.45% landfill collected, we further diverted 8% of this, as identified in the audit.
We would like to gratefully acknowledge the Marae Para Kore Team, Okahu Rakau, and the many volunteers, whanau and other staff who helped on the day, for their collaboration and dedication to sorting, cleaning and double checking every bit of waste received.
Here is some Para kore footage from the day.
