2021 Waitangi Day ki Ōkahu

On the 6th of February 1840, the Treaty of Waitangi was signed by rangatira Māori and representatives of the Crown. In 2021, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei will commemorate the occasion with a FREE whānau day out in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau at #WaitangiKiŌkahu2021

Some of Aotearoa’s finest musicians will entertain us throughout the day complemented by a range of delicious food, free water, arts and crafts stalls and more! Our Hauora (Health) Village will also be returning, providing a range of free screenings and health and well-being services for the community.

Nau mai haere mai e te tī, e te tā, 10am – 3pm, 6th of February 2021, Waitangi Day ki Ōkahu!

The Mauri Tent, kindly supported by the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board, will feature again at our Waitangi Day event. This year, the Mauri Tent will share our story – an exhibit of images from throughout the history of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. Including a collection of moving images from the Takaparawhau (Bastion Point) occupation, led by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei in 1978.

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei are proud to be partnering with nib Health Insurance to bring the Hauora (Health) Village to Waitangi Day ki Ōkahu. The Hauora Village provides a range of FREE health checks and services for all whānau and community members to engage in. Our goal each year is to facilitate barrier-free access to health services – encouraging the whole community to become proactive with their hauora.
