Ki Te Ākau o Ōkahumatamomoe tātou, ngā hapū katoa mai i Maunganui ki Tāmaki, huihui ai. He whakataetae whaikōrero, pao/karanga, matataki, kapa haka hoki e haere ake nei.
He maha ngā hua o tēnei kaupapa nui whakaharahara rawa atu!!! Whātua nuku, Whātua rangi, e ko Ngāti Whātua e!!!
Te Ahurei o Ngāti Whātua is happening!!! Saturday, 19 November 2022 will see the opening of the first Ahurei of this kind, despite the postponement last year.
It will be at Ōkahumatamomoe Bay where all hapū from Maunganui to Tāmaki are invited to gather. There will be competition in oratory, ceremonial calls of welcome, ancient warfare rituals and performing arts.
There are many positive outcomes intended from this auspicious occasion for the living descendants of our cherished tupuna of Ngāti Whātua.
