Kaumātua Grant

Overview

The Kaumātua grant is in recognition of being a Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei kaumātua who are 65+ years old.

Overview

Overview

This grant is to help with recovery of damage caused by a natural disaster.

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Tertiary Grant

Overview

Below is a list of Tertiary grants that whānau can apply for.

Certificate/Diploma (Level 1-5) 16+ y/o up to $500.00
Bachelors Degree 16+ y/o up to $1,500.00
Post-Graduate Certificate or Post-Graduate Diploma 18+ y/o up to $2,000.00
Masters Degree 18+ y/o up to $4,000.00
Doctoral Degree 18+ y/o up to $6,000.00

If you are not a full-time student, your grant will be pro-rata.

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Tertiary Scholarships

Overview

A scholarship will be awarded to students studying in the following Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei growth areas for a Certificate/Diploma, Bachelors, Post-Graduate, Masters:

  • Engineering and/or Construction
  • Sciences and/or Medicine
  • Digital Technology and/or Multi-Media
  • Professional Services
  • Tourism and/or Hospitality
  • Teaching
  • Te Reo Māori

Doctoral Degree Growth Areas are as follows:

  • Māori Health and Wellbeing including Mental Health
  • Māori Education
  • Māori Culture, Language and Identity

A requirement of the scholarship is that you attend one of the following events throughout the year and complete a survey:

  • Education Summit
  • Tertiary Dinner
  • A Volunteer Day

Please note: Any recipient who does not attend any of the events stipulated will not be eligible for the scholarship in 2021.

Scholarship values are as follows:

Certificate/Diploma $1,000.00
Bachelors $1,500.00
Post-Graduate $1,500.00
Masters $2,000.00
Doctoral Degree $3,000.00

If you are not a full-time student, your scholarship will be pro-rata. This value will be added to your Education Grant.

Water Sport Subsidy

Overview

Formerly the Swimming Subsidy, this Water Sport Subsidy is to support whānau who are involved in water sports.

Invoices, receipt or a document of ‘fees to be paid’ need to be supplied upon application. One application will be processed per year for each eligible hapū member.

The Sports grant is provided by the Trust Board to help support high performing sportspersons.

Ōrākei Health Services – GP Clinic

Overview

Ōrākei Health is proudly owned and operated by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. We provide quality general health and medical care for whānau/families living in East Auckland.

​Our clinic is situated at the Eastridge Mall in Ōrākei and is an affordable low-cost service with qualified and experienced staff.

Te Reo Tuawhiti Hōtaka Reo

Overview

We are happy to announce that we are taking registrations for our Te Reo Tuawhiti 2020 our brand new suite of (hōtaka Reo) Reo initiatives starting in April 2020. Click here for more info and to register.

Tū ā-kapa: Exploring aspects of Performing Arts (Kapa haka) Tikanga Marae (Practices & Protocols)

Foundation, intermediate and advanced Te Reo Māori classes also available.

Savings Scheme - Toi Tupu

Overview

A Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei iwi investment savings scheme that encourages whānau to save for a better future. Each year $500.00 is contributed towards a savings scheme for each member.

A series of parenting wānanga specifically to support pāpā.

Whānau Ora - Whānau Direct

Overview

Whānau Direct is a government fund that assists whānau to access financial resources when it matters most to whānau, with the intention of making a positive difference for whānau. Whānau Direct has specific criteria. For more information, contact us.

Whai Maia delivers the Whānau Ora contract which aims build whānau on their strengths. We have experienced Whānau Ora Navigators who work alongside each whānau along their journey. Click here for more info.
