Kia Ora!
Toi Tupuroa has been focused in supporting whānau to realise their educational aspirations through scholarships for the past five years.
In doing so, we have engaged with a range of education providers to enable our whānau to access quality education with less of a financial burden. Institutions include Unitec, Victoria University, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), University of Auckland (UoA) Whitecliffe and King’s School.
In 2022, we partnered with the Māori Education Trust to further support the education journeys of our hapū. The fruits of this relationship has seen a direct investment of $50,000.00 into whānau homes.
Below is a brief description of the scholarship, its benefits, and outcomes we’ve achieved to date:

About InZone
InZone supports rangatahi to achieve their full potential academically and in their sporting and cultural activities. We do this by providing kāinga (hostels) which are “InZone” for high performing schools, Auckland Grammar School and Epsom Girls’ Grammar School. We partner with the schools to enable our students to achieve top educational outcomes.
Within our kāinga, we create a supportive, whānau oriented and culturally appropriate environment that will give our rangatahi every opportunity to succeed. Our foundations are Māori kaupapa and the Christian faith and our values are embedded in our care. Our rangatahi quickly develop a sense of belonging within our kāinga. They are immersed in the home-like environment and each student is supported by caring and empathetic staff – we often say we strive to look after our rangatahi just as any “good parent would”.
Through their time at InZone, our rangatahi are exposed to a multitude of growth opportunities: leadership; personal; academic; cultural; Community and post-school transition.
The application process begins with our online form.
Applicants must first complete the form and then send the supporting documents to InZone at info@inzoneeducation.org.nz

There will be two rounds of applications.

Round 2
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in each round.
Boarding fees
To ensure InZone’s life changing opportunity is available for all Māori and Pasifika rangatahi, we aim to keep our whānau Boarding Fee as affordable as possible. Every rangatahi in our kāinga receives an InZone scholarship which significantly subsidises their boarding fee. To be able to do this, it is necessary for us to fundraise a significant portion of the actual cost which we could only do with the help of generous donations from individuals, charitable entities and our annual fundraiser.
The 2023 InZone Fees payable by whānau is $9,850 per annum. If you are eligible for the Ministry of Education Boarding Allowance, the whānau contribution is $3050.
