Whānau Ora

Whānau Ora.

Whānau Ora seeks the transformation of whānau – by whānau. The service is driven by a focus that whānau will be self-managing; live healthy lifestyles; and participate fully in society to create a sense of health and well-being.

Whānau Ora is a Service available to support whānau navigate services, agencies, and resources to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Once you are allocated to one of our dedicated whanau ora kaiarahi they will contact you, get to know you and your whanau and help you set goals to assist with any of the following:

Whānau Knowledge.

Skills/knowledge for employment, Education/training, financial literacy/Budgeting, Health literacy, Numeracy and literacy, ICT literacy

Whānau Health.

Physical health, Nutrition, Mental health, Spiritual health (wairua), Whānau/social health, Smoking/tobacco use, Alcohol use, Drug use, Violence/abuse (physical/verbal), Personal health (glasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, private surgery), Health/Medical Debt/Payment, Oral Health.

Whānau Relationships.

Parenting knowledge/skills, Whānau/Household relationships, Wider whānau relationships, Relationships with Māori networks, Relationships with service providers (incl Gov. Dep.), Safety issues/Legal issues/Risk management.

Whānau Participation in Community.

Connection to community networks, Access to community resources, Leadership/Engagement in civic affairs, Participation in sports and recreation, Legal Doc’s/Passports/Personal ID/Drivers License.

Whānau Engagement in Te Ao Māori.

Knowledge of whakapapa/whānau connections, Involvement with Māori community organisations including Education or Kohanga or Kura, Marae activities, Ability to speak te reo Māori, Knowledge about whenua tupuna, Knowledge about tikanga Māori/lore/customs. 

Whānau Standards of Living.

Whānau/household income, Whānau employment, Financial provisions for future/savings/investments, Housing standards including household maintenance, Home ownership, Access to safe transport options, Basic household items or amenities or clothing, Access to adequate insurance, Access to telecommunication/internet, Reduced Debt or Payment of Fines, Food or Food Security.

This service is only available for Whānau living within Tāmaki Makaurau, however, should you need advice around connecting to your local Whānau Ora provider and or services to assist your goals please give us a call or email.
