Tuku Whenua Broadcast 6am-9am.
This year, 18 September 2022, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei will acknowledge the 182nd anniversary of the Tuku Whenua. The day formally begins at the Marae studio from 6am with ōkawa proceedings kicking off from Maungawhau at 645am for karakia, and followed by a series of further coordinated karakia across Tāmaki, at locations of significance. The final karakia will take place at Te Rerenga Oraiti – Point Britomart, followed by Pōwhiri at Ōrākei Marae at 8am to Government and Council representatives.
All ceremonies at the different locations will contribute to a live broadcast, hosted by our very own Otene Hopa (Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei) streamed on the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei facebook platform.
