Learn to Sail – Optimist Level 1

Sailing is a sport for life, whether you’re sailing for fun or if you are planning on a pathway to race on the world stage.

In your RAYC Optimist Level 1 course, your coach will help you work on all the basics from learning how to rig your boat and understanding capsize recovering techniques.

Our sailors commence their pathway with their Level 1 RAYC Learn to Sail Course.  This course is for an 8-week period during the school term or a 4-day Fast Track option during school holidays.  Sailors will learn to sail in the Optimist dinghy which is a stable and reliable boat to learn in.  Once the sailor has fulfilled the learning objectives of Level 1 they will be awarded their certificate and can progress to Level 2.

Spaces are strictly limited, so please click here to fill out the Expression of Interest form and we will be in touch early next year to confirm your spot. Ages 8y-12y.
