Taonga Preservation

Caring for taonga – info and drop-in sessions with Vicki-Anne Heikell!

Āhea: We will be running multiple drop-in sessions across the two days. Wednesday 28 AprilThursday 29 April from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm

Whai Māia is pleased to be hosting field conservator, Vicki-Anne Heikell, who will share her expertise in the preservation of treasured items, from physical books and papers to digital materials. Come along to hear more about her work caring for taonga. There will also be time for you to ask for tips on caring for any treasured items that you may have in your whānau and you are welcome to bring these in if you wish.

Vicki-Anne Heikell - Profile

Vicki-Anne Heikell (Nō Te Whānau-a-Apanui), Field Conservator Kaitauhwiro-ā-Waho at the Alexander Turnbull Library Outreach Services Team. Vicki-Anne has a B.Applied Science in Conservation of Cultural Materials from the University of Canberra specialising in paper. Her role includes advising on preservation of documentary heritage collections for Iwi organisations, hapū and marae-based collections.
