We are excited to introduce Oha Toi Ora

A health grant designed to support Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei whānau living overseas by providing financial assistance for essential healthcare costs.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, you must:

✔ Be a registered Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei hapū member

✔ Be living outside of New Zealand

✔ Not hold an active nib policy

How can the Oha Toi Ora support you?

Through Oha Toi Ora, whānau can receive:

✔ Up to $1,200 NZD per year in health claims for those aged 21 and over

✔ Up to $600 NZD per year for those aged under 21

✔ A simplified claim process for reimbursement of healthcare expenses

    If you have been covered under an nib policy while overseas, this grant will now provide direct financial assistance for your health needs.

  • Oha Toi Ora will be available from January 4th, 2025, offering financial support for essential healthcare costs.

  • To be eligible, you must:

    ✔ Be living outside of Aotearoa New Zealand

    ✔ Not hold an active nib policy

  • Through Oha Toi Ora, eligible whānau can receive:

    ✔ Up to $1,200 NZD in health claims per year for those aged 21 years and over

    ✔ Up to $600 NZD per year for those aged under 21 years

    ✔ A simplified claim process that allows direct reimbursements, making it easier to access support for health expenses wherever you are in the world

  • We’ve listened to whānau feedback about the challenges of accessing nib cover overseas—such as needing to return to Aotearoa for procedures, cost mismatches, and payment restrictions to NZ accounts.

    With only 20% of overseas-based whānau using their nib policy in the past year, Oha Toi Ora has been developed to offer a more flexible and accessible way to support your healthcare needs.

  • From January 4th, 2025, you can apply by completing an application form and uploading any required supporting documents. The application form is available here:

  • You can submit claims as often as needed until you reach your annual funding limit:

    ✔ $1,200 NZD per year for those aged 21 and over

    ✔ $600 NZD per year for those aged under 21

From January 4th, 2025, you can apply online by completing a simple form and submitting supporting documents.

Application Process:

1️⃣ Complete the application form (click here)

2️⃣ Upload supporting documents, including:
✔ Proof of overseas residence (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement)
✔ Proof of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei affiliation
✔ Evidence of healthcare costs (e.g., invoices, receipts, or medical reports)

3️⃣ Submit your application – our team will process your claim and provide reimbursement for eligible expenses.
